How to learn vocabulary effectively

I know a way to learn Vocabulary very effective. As you know, we have an assignment 20 academic words a week, to do that ass, I always prefer to choose books that cover vocabularies use commonly in the life. I list words we usually use in our life to write down and after done 20 words, I mark words that  we use commonly and easy to learn to remember them. By doing that, you not only finish your ass but also you can learn more vocabularies for your self.

I need to learn more vocabulary, because Vocabulary is very important each class that listening and speaking, reading and writing. I always use flash card when I learn vocabulary. Also I make sentence to use new vocabulary, but it is hard to remember. Therefore I have to learn little bit everyday. I think it is very important to remember vocabulary.

i can learn more vocabulary when i listen musi or i watching movies because, you can learn more academic words or technical. I always watch technology documentaries, i always learn technical words.

How do I like to learn vocabulary?

There are many ways to learn vocabulary, but I think that its easier down three types of learning. The first way is talking with native’s speakers that they can explain you the meaning of the word. For example, they explicate you on wordandphrase or give you the meaning in English. After that you can repeat the word and used more easy. The second way is practice in quizlet that provide you flash cards; also you can take a quiz about these words. Finally the third way is reading a lot. In this way you can understand which part of speech belongs to the word and the context of the phrase give you idea about the meaning. Using these three ways in my speaking or my writing i can improve my vocabulary.

How do I like to learn vocabulary

I like learning vocabulary by reading because I can pick up word that I do not know easily. As I reading book, I can learn new vocabulary, and also I can enjoy with the book. To memorize vocabulary, it is better to use flash card, but as learning, I really prefer to read some book. I really like to read book, and i want to try hard to read book and learn a lot of vocabulary.

How do you like to learn vocabulary?

i like to learn vocabulary from flashcard, because it is more easier to memorize new words. Also, i like to learn vocabulary from the newspapers. First, When I read from some news, I learn the structure of the sentence and the spelling. For me, it is more comfortable when I repeat the new words in my mind.
Second, I like to learn new words from the internet , I remember the last semester when I was studying my flashcard with new vocabulary, I could memorize more easier every word. That ways was great for me to learn and improve my vocabulary. If you want to improve your vocabulary you should use flashcards in your study time.

I like to look up new words that I read or hear. I usually look them up online. Sometimes, if I want to see how other writers use the word, I look it up on wordandphrase.info, which is awesome. Then I try to use the word in my speaking or writing so that I can remember it.

I'm so excited to start this semester and I just want to feel more comfortable on writing. I'll doing all my homework because I want to learn. I want to improve my skills in English. In my opinion GAP is a good level for keep working in my weaknesses.

Experience at ELC

GAP classes are productive because I can learn more thing and I can have more time for improve my skills. For example, It is a great idea that every student has a goal and them they can reach their  specific goal. For example, I need to improve my writing skills, I want to write in 30 minut a really good essay include all the steps. I need to improve my reading skills because I need to understand the specific topics.I think it is the best time for learn English because they have some instruments for improve that.

Preparing for this semester

Sadly, this semester is a worst, because the program of this semester is whats i did in last semester and now I have to relearn everything. In the beginning, I felt too bad for redoing everything, but now, I felt much better already because I know that this time is the best time for me to prepare the TOEFL's tests and I also don't have to spend too much time to finish homework because I did finish all of them in last semester.

In this semester, I'm improving my speaking and writing skill. In fact, in writing skill in need to learn how to take notes while listening to a lecture, write down the main ideas and link it together on 20-paragraph. This part is very necessary in TOEFL. I need to work on it professionally and try to be good at writing essays. 

For speaking skill, this semester I live with two American girls, they are cool and very nice to me. I hide them I'm studying English at the ELC because I'm shy and ashamed if anyone know me studying English and because of that, I can't speak English confidently and fluently. I speak to them like I'm a student in a university and I feel that my English is improving quickly day by day. Last semester, I took the TOEFL's tests and the score in my speaking skill is kind of low and it was the lowest. I hope that I will do it better in the next time I redo the TOEFL's tests. 

My goal for this semester in writing class is can write 30 minute essay with fluency and coherence. I would like to use more academics words in my essays, also, if I can use it in my speaking, it will be very well for me. Also, I need to improve the use of prepositions and transitions words in essays and in my speaking too. Prepositions is my weakness in my English, so I will be glad if I can improve it and write essays much better than before.

     My grammar goals are:  Write a perfect paragraph. Thus, I will be able to write a paragraph without grammar errors.  Write a perfect 30 minutes essay. Therefore, I will be able to write an essay with a good structure on it and without grammar errors.  Furthermore, I want to use correctly some transitons words on my essays . Finally,  I want to use a lot of academic vocabulary on my essays.

My goal is to increase my skills in writing, and I just need to learn my punctuation and also to occupy the right words when I write in the past.

How to improve

I want to improve my writing skills in this semester. I need more speedy writing when I write essay. I always use a lot of times in each paragraph. Therefore I could not finish in 30 minute. My first goal is I have to think about how many times does each paragraph need. Also, I need to use more academic vocabulary and use many transition words. Therefore I will write an essay once a week at least.

My Goal

      My goal for this semester is memorize academic words and use it in essay. My weak point for writing is vocabulary. I need to use more academic word in essay, but I am really bad at memorize something. That is really hard thing for me, but I know that to become a good writer needs to choose good words for an essay. That mean I should know academic words. That's why I want to memorize academic word, and this is my goal for this semester. If I do it, I can become better writer.

Step by Step!

Sometimes we are confused as to begin a new a strategy to reach our goals. The patience is great virtue that I need for continue my studies in English. I want to write a 30 minutes-essay with accuracy and fluenly mood.Also I want to write and understand the structure of each type of essay.  Practicing the contents of this class I hope to achieve my goals.

New Semester, New Goals

It's the beginning of a new semester, and with a new beginning comes new goals. This semester, to improve my writing, I've made a goal to write in a writing journal every day, even if I only have five minutes to spare. Sometimes I might write about my day or what I learned. Other times, I think I will write down ideas for stories or essays that I want to write. I think that this will help me focus on what I need to do to improve. And sometimes, I'll actually write those stories and essays.

Write a blog post about your goals for this writing class, then publish it so the rest of the class can see it. After several students have published, read a few or their posts and choose one to comment on.

Each week you will respond to a new topic that I post and comment on a classmate's posts. Have fun following our blog! And have fun increasing your English ability "one daffodil at a time."

GAP is super cool class

Read about the steps that Makram gave in "GAP is super cool class" to learn English, makes me think about what I need to do to be better in this language. He said that we need to study hard, focus on our goal and be patient in order to improve a lot. I know if everyone follow these steps, we will improve our English skills faster.

I really like this commentary "I think that English is the most important language over the world. If you need to learn this language you must follow these steps such as, studying hard, focusing to your goal and having patience"
This is a positive commentary for those people that have the desire to learn a new language. If you are one them you should pay attention  to these three steps  (studying hard, focusing to your goal and having patience) because if you do this, it can bring you success.


First, you have to study hard every day every the material that you have, like your text books and the notes that you take in classes. If you do this, you will learn faster and you can memorize more words. As a result of that you could be a successful learner.


Second, if you focus on your goals, you always could have something to work for.


Third, you do not need to be frustrated if you cannot get it at the beginning. Sometimes it is not very easy, but you have to keep going. Remember there is a second opportunity to get it.

Clear Goal

I like "Why you want to learn English?" by Ariana Valdivia because I totally agree with her. We all need to have a clear goal and focus on it. And we should practice not only on our weakness but also combine it with other aspects of the language. 

The advice from other GAP students

I read some of advices that some students gave us, and my favorite parts are using our time wisely and executing our plan efficiently. First, using time wisely is really important for college students. If we can learn how to manage our time well, then it would help us to prepare get into college/grad-school. Second, executing our plan efficiently could help us to learn better. Sometime we have really good plan to help us to learn, but if we do not execute it, then we will not improve at all. I am preparing to take TOEFL test, I knew what my weakness is, somehow, I've never tried to resolve them. Until I read the advices from other students that motivate me to change it.

Enough of sleep

I recommend every student should sleep early, so you get enough of energy to face next day's challenge. If you don't have enough of sleep, you will feel terrible and exhausted. I have done that stupid things many times, so I hope you all have a healthy happy English learning time.

I like this topic "I want to tell you what is important for me and how I achieve my goals". There are two reasons why. First of all, the person who wrote the letter tried to write essays every week without giving up. I would like to learn about the guy's patience. Moreover, the guy made goals as much as he could. Actually, I already made my goals as long as my semester, but it was so hard to try over and over for my goals. After I read the letter, I realized that I will try again. That is why I chose this letter. 

How to Learn Vocabulary Effectively

I like the advice of Alex on Mrs. Healy's blog. He uses a vocabulary textbook containing lots of words. 


First, he read vocabulary and write it into a piece of paper. Second, he pronounces new vocabulary and 


then circle the words. I did like that far, however, the difference is flash cards. I didn't make flash cards 


because I considered that it is time-consuming. So, I always forgot unfamiliar words because the span 


of reviewing new words was infrequent. I think making flash cards will be helpful since I can review 


new words frequently and effectively and can keep recording them.

How can I improve my English

Through Miss Healy`s blog I found a lot of students talked about vocabulary study, and I am totally agree. I know ELC give us a lot assignments they are helpful, but it is better to have more time to focus on vocabulary study. Maybe it will cost more time then assignments. 

Useful tip is try to remember vocabularies over and over, keep track on your vocabulary.

Gap class is helpful to me. I can spend time to improve my weakness skills. sometimes  I do not know how to study grammar or using academic vocabulary. but there is interns and teachers in SASC , so I can ask some questions and give some advice. It is really good to me

I liked Gap is super cool class. by Makram, because her advice is really useful, inspiring and interesting to read. I think use your time wisely is a really good advice, also having a lot of patience. I think the best advice is writing a lot and improve your writing, that is really helpful to write paragraphs and essays as well than with speaking. I have improve my speaking thanks to my writing, because i know how to organize my ideas. In addition i agree that doing your homework will help you to understand your teacher better, doing the homework will prepare you to classes. And finally this advice is awesome because it says we have to give our best and have fun!

A Little Advice

I like the advice about "why do you want to learn English?" because there are many reasons for which people want to learn. He or she want to say to be focus in own goals and to practice with different task to achieve that goals. It is better to do many task and not only one for example, if you want to learn grammar, you should read a grammar book, but also you should practice that grammar in speaking with a person or tutor.
